What better time to freshen up our site with a new look and new material than when our Gators are getting ready to kick off a new year starting will an all new team!!! WooHoo! I can’t wait to see what our new head coach, Will Muschamp, and his staff will do with our football warriors this year. Very EXCITING to think that we have just come off one of our worst seasons since the Zook era with a true Gainesville boy heading the pack. No offense to Urban, but he was a Yank that I didn’t really feel ever fit into the tradition of Florida athletics, (I’ll take his National Championships anytime, though, and thank him graciously for them!). However, give me a southern man with deep SEC, (preferably Gator) football roots, and I feel you have got yourself a winner!
The Orange and Blue game this Saturday, 4/9/11, will be the first glimpse the Gator Nation has had at this new regime change, and I hope we’ll actually get a taste of what is to come. With the closed practices it has been hard to get a sense of where we are going.
Anyhow, if you are going to the Orange and Blue game, (or not), here are some of the highlights to watch for:
Kickoff: Saturday, 4/9/11, @ 12pm (good, but sunny and hot weather is expected, so pack the sunscreen)
Orange Team: Defense wearing white (Hmmm, don’t get it. Why not orange?)
Blue Team: Offense wearing blue
First String offense will play Fist String defense, Second String offense will play Second String defense, etc.
A new Muschamp tradition will include Guest Media Coaches: Blue team coaches are Pat Dooley of the Gainesville Sun and Joe Henderson of the Tampa Tribune. The Orange team’s coaches are Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel and Steve Russell of WRUF Radio.
Heisman Winner Statue Revealed: The three Gator recipients of the famed Heisman trophy, Steve Spurrier, Danny Wuerffel and Tim Tebow will be honored with a statue representing the likeness of the three during halftime. I would expect to see at least two if not all three of these Gator Icons show up for this!
Tailgating: Well, if the above mentioned isn’t awesome enough, we are also going to inform you of the most important part our the Spring Orange and Blue Game…..GatorMoms.NET along with GatorCountry.Com and GatorTailgating.com are going to throw the best tailgating event the city of Orange and Blue has ever seen. We are talking great food, drink, games, live music, loads of Gator giveaways and lots of Gator camaraderie!
