- Pair of Gator All-Americans Receive Degrees this Weekend
Two Gator All-Americans Amy Ferguson and Elizabeth Mahlich receive degrees this weekend. University of Florida spring commencement ceremonies will take place Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6, according to college assignment.
- Florida gymnast Kytra Hunter is the Honda Sports Award recipient
University of Florida freshman and 2012 NCAA all-around champion Kytra Hunter (Frederick, Md.) is this years Honda Sports Award recipient for gymnastics, distinguishing her as the nations top collegiate female athlete in the sport. The honor was based on the results of national balloting among all NCAA member schools as part of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards program, now in its 36th year.
- Gymnasts Honored at Team's Annual Awards Banquet
Standout Gator freshman Kytra Hunter, this year's NCAA all-around and vault champion, was honored as the Gator gymnastics team's "Most Outstanding" gymnast at the team's annual award banquet in the Gator Room in the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. It was a flashlight illuminated event for most of the banquet as a temporary power outage hit that portion of campus Monday evening.

University of Florida freshman Kytra Hunter collected her second event title of the NCAA Gymnastics Championships with her vault win Sunday in the individual event finals held in The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Hunter became the first Gator to win the NCAA all-around title on Friday evening and she is the only Gator to claim two event titles in a single year. In the 31-year history of the NCAA Gymnastics Championships, Hunter is the fifth to claim multiple NCAA titles as a freshman.

The Gators were finished as soon as Kytra Hunter thrust her hands into the air to complete her floor routine.
At that point, there was nothing to do but wait.
"It was a tense moment,'' Florida junior Marissa King said. "I didn't know if we had it. I didn't know what was going on."

The math just didnt go in the Gators favor Saturday in the NCAA Super Six team final. The Florida gymnastics team was edged by Alabama, giving the Tide their second consecutive and sixth overall NCAA Championship. Alabama won the title at 197.85, while the Gators were 0.075 behind at 197.775.

Right from the start on Friday night there was something different about Florida's gymnastics team.
The confidence oozed and smiles beamed as the Gators entered the Gwinnett Center through a fog machine. If the Gators felt pressure, they sure weren't showing it.
Once Session II of the NCAA Championships began three berths to Saturday's Super Six were at stake the Gators pounced on their prey.

The No. 1 seeded Florida gymnastics team moves ahead to Saturday's NCAA Super Six team final after taking second in Friday's second semifinal session. Florida was just edged for the session's top position by defending NCAA champion Alabama, 197.675-197.650.

They're back.
The Gators are back in the NCAA Gymnastics Championships. They are back as the No. 1 overall seed for the first time in five years and only second time in school history. They are back here a half-hour from downtown Atlanta, where less than a month ago the Gators won the SEC Tournament in the same building The Arena at Gwinnett Center that they will compete in Friday night.

The No. 1 Florida gymnastics team (17-1, 5-1 SEC) looks to become the fifth team to raise the national trophy this weekend at the NCAA Gymnastics Championships. The three days of competition will take place in The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga. This is the second consecutive year the event will be contested away from a campus site. The 2011 NCAA Championships held in the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio, was the first.
